Thank You Is Unwatchable!
What' s wrong with Akshay Kumar? He is just busy doing dumb squib again and again. Please Akshay, spare us the horror. No thank you, yeah, that' s what can be said to Akshay Kumar' s latest blockbuster flop movie, Thank You!
Ready for the postmortem report of Thank You? Okay folks, then let' s just do this!
Oh Common, after delivering huge hits like Singh Is Kinng, No Entry and Welcome, how can a good director like Anees Bazmee go wrong ? Anees Bazmee and Akshay Kumar team up with each other for the third time and what a crap they have come up with.
Yes guys, after 40 days of world cup, it' s the first major release that has a major director associated, a major production house rooting, an ensemble cast going for it, but alas it must be said that even if it' s the last thing for you this weekend; do yourself a favor, just stay away from it and rather we would suggest you to enjoy IPL-4 kicking off tonight.
With ' Thank You' Anees Bazmee has a made a tasteless Khichdi and it' s a bad mix up of movies like No Entry, Shaadi No. 1 and Masti.
Final Word? Thank You is just inconsistent like Indian roads. Sometime the journey is as smooth as silk and sometimes you are taken for a bizarre ride set to drain you rather than keeping you hooked to enjoyment. A lousy script fails the whole effort. Thumbs Down!
Let' s see the basic plot of this dilapidated movie in the pivotal words of Mr. Taran Adarsh, a noted film critic.
"Raj, Yogi and Vikram -- best friends, business partners, serial womanizers and happily married! Happy, because their lovely wives have no clue that their husbands cheat on them with every pretty young thing they can lay their eyes on. This picture perfect world is rocked when Raj' s wife Sanjana begins to suspect her husband and hires the suave private detective, Kishan, to tail him."
"Kishan has built his reputation as a man who saves marriages by getting erring husbands to mend their ways. In this particular case, however, his overwhelming attraction towards Sanjana means he may not be acting in her best interest. What follows is a crazy cat-n-mouse game, with Kishan trying to catch the husbands with their pants down literally and them attempting to just stay outside his grasp."
It sounds like a story we have already watched 100 times, right folks? Plus, the week writing helps the script further to give in and come out as a flopbuster.
Talking of the performances, Akshay Kumar' s comic timing is good and masses may like it but again the same question arises, how many times would you do the same thing dear Akshay, spare us the horror, please!
Irrfan is also known for his accurate comic timing as this is no exception. Good work, indeed! Suniel Shetty (when was the last time he delivered a good performance, stop hamming Sunil plz) delivers some brighter moments here and there but they are far from being satisfactory to keep the enterprise afloat.
Sonam Kapoor looks glamorous at times but her make-up is just not chick. Celina Jately vanishes after the first-half, where does she go Mr. Director? Rimi Sen is the best of the lot and delivers a decent yet average performance.
Bobby Deol is just okay.
On the whole, Thank You has a good first-half but it' s the second-half that derails the whole effort and makes you think for what was the movie made!
From the box-office point of view, the star cast may pull audiences over the weekends but the real taste will begin on Monday. Further, IPL-4 will surely be a party spoiler for Thank You too. No Thank You shall be your instant reaction to the flick. Thumbs Down!
Rating - *1/2 (Please Spare Us The Horror, Akshay)
Verdict - No Thank You but watching IPL-4 is a better option!
