Indian cinematic panorama of late has become a considerable ground for varied opportunities in animation films arena.
First Hanuman then Hanuman 2 and My Friend Ganesha' s success have paved the pay for enticing opportunities in the Indian film industry for animation movies.
The latest to join the forum is Luva Kusa.
So, is it worth a call? Yes, it' s a decent attempt as far as the treatment of the movie is concerned but the length of the movie is too long for an animation based movie.
Let' s scrutinize the basic plot of this animated movie, a genre that' s yet to be exploited in India. (In the words of Nikhat Kazmi, a celebrated movie critic)
Lava and Kusa wage a battle against their father, Rama when he performs the Ashwamedha yagya. Of course, they don' t know the truth about their parentage and chide him for abandoning Sita too.
And then Realization and reconciliation dawns later, when Sita and Valmiki are forced to intervene in the battlefield.
Well, seems to be an interesting plot? But the makers have failed to execute the same and have finally zeroed on it to be an average affair.
One fact that all would agree is to that the themes of animation based movies have been mythological and medieval with churning out of the stories on Seeta, Raam, Hanuman Ganesha and next to join the list is Ramayana, another animated movie on the same theme and Baru-The wonder Kid too coming.
Common guys, we need to buck up and explore other set of stories like fairytales for an instance in order to break through to the next level of optimism.
Another thing in question is that the makers of these movies really need to study their target audiences well in advance to gain occupancies in the plexes and not to forget the release timings, too.
All said and done, Luva Kusa is an honest attempt that' s not executed the way it should have been. It can be a treat for kids, though!
From the ticket-window point of view, the movie won' t have much occupancy given the fact that various other biggies are already on a roll. Overall, it can be worthwhile experience when the DVD comes out! Its strictly for kids! No parental guidance needed!
Rating: ** (Average)
Verdict: It' s a decent attempt but could have been tighter and better!
